Born in Austria in 1944, Angela Cummings moved to the U.S. with her family at three. She studied art in Italy and jewelry in Germany, earning a degree in goldsmithing and gemmology before joining Tiffany & Co. in 1968, where she created iconic designs until 1984.
Later, Angela launched her independent jewelry business with her husband, Bruce Cummings, creating nature-inspired pieces that gained widespread success and sold in major department stores. Although she retired in 2003, Cummings returned to design in 2013 with a collaboration for Assael, continuing her legacy of timeless and collectible jewelry.
Angela Cummings often used inlay gemstones in her pieces, including onyx, mother of pearl, lapis, jade, opal, and more. Nature inspired her pieces, including the sea, flora, and wildlife. One of her most iconic designs is the gold rose petal. Cummings Rose Petal Necklace, earrings, and pendants had a striking realistic resemblance to actual rose petals.
Unlike traditional jewelry designs, Cummings used bold, bright colors and contrast in her works. Angela Cummings's pieces for Tiffany & Co. are becoming very rare and highly desirable. Pieces produced between 1968 and 1984 are more desirable. However, I am also interested in purchasing any Angela Cummings jewelry, even pieces made from 1984 to 2003. Angela Cummings' designs are monumental in shaping Tiffany & Co., and some of the top collection items rival such bold designs from Jean Schlumberger.
